Motherhood in Africa.

When I was single and in that stage of living life to the fullest,
you know what I mean...
that stage where you want to go on every study abroad and humanitarian trip you see.
Well anyways, when I was in that stage it was my dream to go to Africa.
I thought it would be amazing to get to do a humanitarian trip there.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) life took me another route pretty swiftly once I met the man of my dreams.

Anyways, this amazing woman that I know was able to go to Africa and do incredible things.
You can read about her experiences here, here and here.
She told me about this amazing opportunity to help woman in Africa for Mother's Day.
In Africa, mothers and new babies often die do to the lack of health supplies, staff and training
In fact, a woman dies every 90 seconds from preventable complications during childbirth.
You can visit this website to donate with a Mother's Day card to woman in Africa.
Just 50 cents can pay for one woman's visit to the maternity clinic. And $300 pays for the annual salary of one community health worker. Each of these workers will care for 200 pregnant women every year.
It is amazing how much a small a amount can go a long way to help these woman.

Isn't this a fabulous idea for a mother's day gift?
You can visit their website to read more about this effort.

  1. I have a soft spot for Africa. Mainly because my brother served his mission there. The people there seem so humble and amazing (especially the mothers).
Hopefully you can still go there one day whether you are single or not! Make the hubby go too!
